Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

On Saturday, October 17, nearly 40 volunteers came together for the North Adams Creative District Community Cleanup, rolling up their sleeves to help downtown North Adams look its best.

Though the weather predictions looked dire coming into the weekend, Saturday turned out to be a lovely fall day in North Adams. The morning kicked off with breakfast at Hotel Downstreet before volunteers headed out to six locations throughout the Creative District, from Sunshine Park on River Street to UBG Park on State Street to the Eagle Street Parklet. Equipped with rakes, bags, hi viz vests and hats, and plenty of community spirit, volunteer teams got to work filling bags with trash and making a visible difference across the district.

The initiative supports downtown revitalization, small businesses, creative entrepreneurs, and projects that strengthen the city’s economy and quality of life. The cross-sector group of partners include the City of North Adams, 1Berkshire, Christo's Famous Pizza, Greylock Works, MCLA, MASS MoCA, Moresi & Associates, the North Adams Partnership, Scarafoni Associates, Tres Ninos, and TOURISTS.

On behalf of the event organizers, thank you to the City of North Adams for coordinating trash pickup and to Steeple City Social, Nostalgia Scratch Pastry, Hexagon Bagels, and Big Y for providing delicious pastries. We’re also grateful to Hotel Downstreet for hosting our morning gathering and to Dan Morgan for the great photos. Their flexibility in accommodating a last-minute venue change helped make the event a success!

Most of all, thank you to everyone who showed up, pitched in, and helped make the Creative District a little brighter. Small acts of collective care make a difference—we’re just getting started!
