Route 2 Overpass Community Visioning Session

Over 70 residents attended a presentation on Saturday morning on how to address the challenges created by the construction of the now-structurally deficient Route 2 Overpass. Chris Reed, founding director of Stoss Landscape Urbanism, the project’s lead planning firm, presented the three possible options—repair, replace, or remove—with supporting data from traffic and pedestrian studies the team conducted over the last few months. Attendees were encouraged to post sticky notes and place pins on maps of the city to indicate problem areas and share their thoughts and feedback about each option. The planning team will return to North Adams this summer with initial design concepts and schematics, based on feedback from this weekend’s visioning session.

Golden Bamboo Restaurant (re)opens

The former Meng’s Pan-Asian is being reopened by its former owners Meng Wu "Jason" Wang and Yaling "Joy" Wang under the new name Golden Bamboo Restaurant. The restaurant will reopen in the Berkshire Plaza building on Main Street.

The owners have been approved for a liquor license and plan on being open beginning April 15 from 11am–11pm, closing Mondays.

Wheeler & Taylor to expand to North Adams

The iconic WNAW-WMNB radio building at 466 Curran Highway will be occupied later this spring by Wheeler & Taylor Insurance Group, the oldest insurance agency in the Berkshires. Last year, they announced a partnership with Deep Associates and Thompson & Linscott to expand their services in Northern Berkshire County.

Come hang with your colleagues on Wednesday, April 30th from 5-7pm at Hotel Downtown Street over bites and drinks to hear about all the upcoming summer events. Representatives from the City, MASS MoCA and local business owners will be on hand to discuss upcoming events and initiatives.

City Earth Day Cleanup on 4/19

Help North Adams shake off its winter grime to welcome spring! Garbage bags will be available at the North Adams Library from 9am-12pm. Please pick up garbage wherever you see it along our streets, our river or your neighborhood!
